Epiphany at St. James'

About Epiphany

Epiphany, which is observed on January 6, celebrates the light of Christ being revealed to the wider world. This is symbolized by the visit to the manger of the Three Wise Men, also known as the Three Kings or the Magi.

According to the Gospel of Matthew, they followed the star of Bethlehem to find Jesus and present him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Burning of the Greens

To celebrate Epiphany or "Twelfth Night", all parishioners are invited to bring their Christmas tree and other greens to a huge bonfire to celebrate the light and warmth of Christ coming into the world on one of the darkest (and often one of the coldest) nights of the year.

Please join us at the Hatch Farm just south of Leesburg on Friday, January 6, 2012, at 6:00 p.m., for our annual Burning of the Greens.

For directions to the Hatch Farm or for more information, contact the Church Office.
