Holy Week and the Death of Jesus: Mark 156:33-39
Day 36: Tuesday in Holy Week, March 18
On that good day, at that precise moment, the living human spirit of Jesus Christ became One with His Father. The Father’s will was done—on earth—as it was in heaven. The human spirit, embodied in Jesus Christ was cleansed and again became presentable to our Father. His Kingdom had come, again.
God always wanted His children to live and revel in their “original state,” not to wallow in their first sin. The suffering and death of Jesus Christ completed an act initially symbolized by immersion in water—a cleansing. The cleansed human spirit was again worthy to receive its daily bread—love, compassion, redemption, and forgiveness of all trespasses.
Tortured and left to suffer and die so painful a death, the human Jesus never gave into the resentments, pride, or other sinful feelings that must have tempted him so greatly. He forgave those who trespassed against him. He suffered gracefully, died selflessly, and brought all humanity back into full life with the Father. On that day, by his own sacrifice, we were all delivered from the “evil one” and his temptations. Christ’s humble nobility had wiped clean the ego stained soul of humankind. He made it possible for us to share again in the Father’s kingdom, power, and glory!
The Moment always was, is now, and always will be.
