Confirmation & Reception

The sacramental rite of Confirmation is for those who wish to make an adult, public affirmation of their faith, and the rite of Reception is for those who have been confirmed in another denomination (e.g., Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, etc.) but who now want to become an Episcopalian by joining the Episcopal Church.

These sacramental rites are performed during the annual Bishop's Visit in the late spring. On Sunday, May 5, 2013, St. James' welcomed The Rt. Rev. Edwin F. "Ted" Gulick Jr., the Assistant Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia, for our annual Bishop's Visit.
