New This Lent
“Beginning the Christian Journey”
Never been baptized?
“Out of the faith” for a while? Interested in learning or re-learning the
basics of Christian life and practice?
If you’re an adult and answered “yes” to any one of
these questions, then “Beginning the Christian Journey” is for you.
Taught by Fr. John and Rev. Kate, this class is an
excellent introduction (or re-introduction) to the basics of Christian faith
and life. It’s designed for those adults
who have never been baptized—or were baptized as a baby or young child but have
had little or no experience of church since childhood, or for those whose faith
might have lapsed but want to learn (or re-learn) the basic of Christian life
and practice.
“Beginning the Christian Journey” is a three-part
class that will be held on three consecutive Sundays: February 24, March 2, and March 9, from 11:00
a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Parish House which is located next to the Janney House on Cornwall Street, adjacent to the
church. A light lunch will be provided,
and childcare is available.
Adults who have never been baptized and who wish to be, are, after completion of this class, offered the
opportunity to be baptized at the Great Vigil of Easter, our Easter Sunday
sunrise service, on March 23, 2008.
Among the topics we’ll explore together in “Beginning
the Christian Journey” are the basics of the Bible and the ways of reading the
Scripture; the meaning and significance of the sacraments, prayer, and
fellowship as dimensions of the Christian life; the nature of evil and sin; how
we can seek and serve Christ in others; and how to live and act as Christians
in the world outside the church.
