Today at St. James’
Bishop’s
Visit
We are very excited that Bishop Suffragan
David C. Jones is visiting St. James’ today. At the 9:00 a.m. and 11:15
a.m. services, two youth are being baptized and 32 adults and youth are
receiving the Bishop’s Laying-on-of-Hands for Confirmation and Reception.
Bishop Jones’ role, like that of any bishop in the Episcopal Church, is
to represent Christ and his church, and to provide Christian vision and
leadership for his diocese. As Suffragan, Bishop
Jones serves as the Assistant Bishop to Diocesan Bishop Peter James Lee and to
Bishop Co-Adjutor Shannon Johnston, who will succeed
Bishop Lee when he retires next year.
We are delighted that Bishop Jones is with us on this special day. Come meet Bishop Jones at a festive coffee
hour after the 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. services this morning.
¨
Adult Forum has ended for
the program year, and will return in the fall.
¨ Extended Healing Rail: The Healing
Team will offer an extended
healing rail today immediately after the 11:15 a.m. service. The laying on of hands and anointing with
holy oil is offered to everyone during the administration of Communion. Kneelers are located in front of the lectern
(forward and to your left). Please come
for your own needs or as an intercessor for those you have on your heart or
mind. All are welcome.
¨ Summer’s Coming: TODAY
is our final Sunday of Sunday School for this program year. We will honor and thank
our teachers on Sunday, June 15. Sunday school will resume in September;
Children’s Chapel carries on throughout the summer. Many, many thanks to all of
our teachers and chapel leaders!
¨ Youth Groups: For our final official gathering of the school year,
we will take a trip to see the movie, “Chronicles
of Narnia: Prince Caspian.” Please meet at St. James’ at 3:45 p.m.
