Project Abraham is an all-encompassing effort reaching out to disadvantaged, at-risk or abandoned children in Costa Rica by attending to their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
Project Abraham consists of three children's homes, a 12-room daycare and school center, and a multi-purpose auditorium building for cafeteria foodservice, large school events, and Sunday church services. The daycare and school center serves approximately 120 needy children every weekday, ranging from 6 months-12 years of age. They receive instruction, meals, enjoy activities and all the children receive training in English as their second language. By providing hot meals, a safe haven, quality instruction and responsible caregiving, Project Abraham is making a difference in the lives of these children.
During the summer of 2011, eight parishioners headed to Costa Rica, and provided a four-day English language program for the children, as well as helped with a construction project at the site. Before leaving the USA, the team collected gently-used soccer shirts/jerseys, shorts and shin guards, and distributed them to the children at Project Abraham.
We are currently planning a mission trip Saturday, June 30 - Monday, July 9. Individuals, couples and families with children 15 years of age or older are welcome to participate in this mission trip to Costa Rica. Participants of all ages are welcome to assist stateside by collecting items for donation to the children of Project Abraham. If you are interested in participating, contact the Church Office.
