St. James' Historic Cemetery
Preservation Effort
WHY PRESERVE?
Once restored, St. James’ Episcopal Church hopes our historic cemetery will offer...

Remembrance
to create a quiet space where all can acknowledge and learn from the past, fostering unity and understanding within our community.

Recognition
to recognize and honor all those interred here--those with monuments and those in unmarked graves, including enslaved and free African-Americans from our community.

Reflection
to preserve the historic cemetery as a place of peace and reflection for all who visit.

This sacred space offers a unique opportunity for the St. James’ community to foster goodwill and lead new people to our doors and to unity with God and each other through Christ.
