Meet Our New Rector

We are so blessed to welcome and receive our new Rector, The Rev. Dr. Chad Martin. Fr. Chad comes to us from St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas, where he served as an associate for worship, evangelism, new membership, and Men of St. Martin’s.


Fr. Chad is a graduate of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Music (voice), and from Missouri State University, where he received a Master of Music. Following his call to be ordained, Fr. Chad attended   Virginia Theological Seminary, where he received a Master of Divinity in 2009. In May of 2021, Fr. Chad received his Doctor of Ministry in Church Leadership from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.


Fr. Chad’s calling has followed a year-long process led by the St. James’ Discernment Committee, and was guided by the Diocese of Virginia. Fr. Chad’s knowledge and experience, as well as his personal qualities, and strong, Christ-centered spiritual leadership give us all great confidence in Fr. Chad’s commitment to our community and the future of St. James’.
